Set in a lovely redbrick rowhouse, this south Baltimore favorite is a great place to grab a beer and a bite. The dark wood interior is comfortable and inviting, whether you choose to sit at the long bar or in the dining room. (There're also café tables outside.) The restaurant offers a full, and very eclectic, menu, but appetizers and bar fare are what the kitchen does best.
The satay is delicious, the crab cakes are first rate, and the Jambalaya is chock-full of shrimp, fish and other delights.

Did you really think we would send you to an Anne Arundel County factory for a damn crab cake, especially when there’s an outstanding specimen right here in the city? Always cozy Regi’s, a pioneering Federal Hill bistro, pan-sears its jumbo lump crab cake, held together with just enough mayonnaise and panko (those totally-in Japanese-style bread crumbs) and seasoned with a sprinkling of parsley and a soupçon of Dijon mustard. Throw in some smashed roasted garlic potatoes and seasonal vegetables, and what you’ve got is a thoroughly up-to-date and citified adaptation of the classic Eastern Shore crab cake. And unlike so many other restaurants with masterful crab cakes, the rest of Regi’s menu isn’t crap. |
